Recently an appreciable step has been taken by the district administration of Noida and Greater Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, No Helmet No Petrol. To stop rule breakers, Noida Police has strictly instructed the Petrol Pumps not to sell petrol to the two-wheeler drivers who don’t have a helmet along with them. Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate, Brajesh Narain Singh, along with SSP Vaibhav Krishna has held a meeting at Surajpur Collectorate with all the Petrol Pump Owners of Noida and Greater Noida in order to make them aware of this upcoming rule. Right now, this rule is for urban areas and later on, the same will be rolled out in rural areas as well.
District Administration has very clearly stated that those riders who misbehaves and fights with the Petrol Pump Staffs, legal action would be taken against him. The details of the bikers would be stored through CCTV Cameras and his driving license can be suspended or he can be imprisoned under Section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Petrol Pump Owners have already put this message on posters in their petrol pump prior to implementing this as a rule. Finally, this rule has come into effect on 1st June’19 for promoting road safety. Even after this, since 1st June, everyday people can be spotted fighting with the petrol pump attendants for giving fuel without a helmet. Most of the Petrol Pumps have rightly followed the command of the district magistrate while some remained lenient. For the effective implementation, I also admire those Petrol Pump Owners and Attendants for concretely abiding this rule on their filling stations.
This ‘No Helmet No Petrol’ rule is nothing new. It has been already implemented by Andra Pradesh administration and Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) district administration in the past.
Safety of riders has been a major concern for the Noida Traffic Police for a long time. As the people of Noida is not following any traffic rules properly. Every day you can find people jumping a red light, travelling without seat belt and helmet, triple loading, overspeeding on the roads of Noida. People only obey rules at some signals where a traffic Police officer is standing and that too because of fear of fine.
I am quite shocked why these traffic rule violators don’t understand that these rules are for their safety. Police Constable will get nothing if you wear a helmet. It will save your head and life at the time of the accident.
